Keep On Rocking!

After the workers finishing replacing our drain, we had to restore the landscaping to its prior condition. One of the tasks was replacing the stepping stones from the sidewalk to the garden gate.

I had a couple of photos taken shortly after I moved them from the back yard in 2012 (it was a blip) so I gave it to the man who was going do the replacement, and went off to play pickleball. I was not very happy when he didn't get them placed properly, but decided I would just do it myself.

This afternoon, I discovered how difficult it was to replicate the original arrangement, even with copies of the photos on hand. There are hundreds of ways of arranging the stones, and none of the ways I tried seemed to match the original placement. 

After a delicious dinner (thank you, Cynthia) and a beer, I went back outside just to put the tools away, but couldn't resist a few more attempts. I think I'm close to a solution -- I'll see how it looks in the light of a new day.

P.S. I forgot to mention the cardboard templates I used to save the wear and tear on my back!
