Narrow Alfama street

Backblipped. Of course.

June, 12th is Noite de Santo António/Saint Anthony's Night, Lisbon's big party/festival night. I didn't go to work today, but it was one of the most tiring days of recent memory.

08h00...

Wake up early, quick breakfast, give Marta her bottle, take her to school. Return home, phone call from a friend living in Holland, in Portugal for a few days to visit his father after a surgery. Drive to his hotel to pick him up, then meet with friends for lunch and remembering old-times. Drive friend back to Lisbon's centre, return home. Go to local Health Center to get a tetanus vaccine (over 20 years late). Drive to Marta's school to pick her up, them leave her at my parent's home. Pick up a friend, drop car at my own home, take a taxi to Downtown. Nearly there, abandon traffic-jamed taxi . Short walk to bar, drinks, watch the end of euro match Greece-Czech Republic, wait for friends. Dinner nearby, watching euro match Poland-Russia, wait for friends. Medium walk to drinks, through early crowds, wait for friends. Quick walk to a snack, wait for friends. Looong walk to the heart of Alfama (the city's oldest quarter, tonight's eye of the hurricane), through narrow streets filled with thousands of partying people. Meet friends, more food and drinks, light dancing among the crowd. Medium walk out of Alfama. No free taxis, so loooong walk to some end-of-the-night food. Find a taxi, drop fried at her home, return home. Lie on bed, exhausted but happy.
