The Vasa

Stockholm today and a self directed visit to Stockholm. Again a wonderful city based around islands and the sea. Clean , elegant and beautiful. We visited the museum if the Vasa , a warship which sank on its maiden voyage in the harbour in 1628 and was recovered from the mud , intact , in 1961 !!! It's a real treat to see and incredible. Mum chose not to come as getting off the ship involved a trip in a small boat to shore , but she enjoyed a few hours in the sun on deck with her book.
