Hedge Bindweed
I had to look this one up--I see it all over in the summer & I know it's a weed that has mainly white flowers with pink ones occasionally mixed in--but that's about the extent of my knowledge!
Turns out it's a perennial vine that climbs over other plants, shrubs and fences--or in this case, over the curb at the edge of the road. The leaves are almost triangular in shape & the flowers--whether white or pink-- are 2-3 inches across with yellow centers. While they bloom off & on throughout the summer, each individual flower only lasts a single day.
It spreads aggressively and becomes a real nuisance in some areas, as it's known to produce chemicals that inhibit the growth of other plants. It grows equally well in rich soil or in dry, gravelly or sandy soil.
Like so many weeds, I think it's really pretty! :)
