As night approaches ...

... the spoonbills roost in the trees.

In the trees on an island too far from either side of Western Springs Lake for me to get close enough for a really good shot. This is the best showing the shape of the bill clearly.

Lots of other birds were around, many also beginning to settle for the coming night. The extra shot shows how different shag species share branches in the same tree.
