ROSEBUD IN THE RAIN

Waterproof anorak - check

Suitably kitted out, and to Mr. HCB’s amusement, I went into the garden in search of a flower for today’s challenge, Flower Friday.  I had chosen one last night, and hoped it would still be looking good today, but sadly Rose had obviously been out in the rain all night and was looking rather bedraggled - so I went hunting for Rosebud instead.

Here she is, thankfully a little sheltered by the flowering cherry tree behind and looking quite good, despite the torrential rain in the night and heavy rain this morning.

Made me think about how we cope with our circumstances - do we allow them to bend and break us or do we seek out someone or something that can help us get through the difficult times.

A wonderful example of this happened last night.  I went to a meeting at church to explore how we worship and how we could express ourselves doing that, not only with our voices, but also with our bodies.

One of our older members, M, wanted to move around the room, but knew she was unable to do it on her own, as she cannot walk very well.  Without speaking, she went over to another lady, C, just took her by the hand, and gently pulled her to her feet.  Although C didn’t understand at first what was happening, she soon realised that together, and holding on firmly to each other, she and M could walk and worship in a different way, which in turn, gave M confidence because she had C helping her.

Love, trust and faith in action and beautiful to watch.

Two are better off than one,
     because together they can work
          more effectively.
If one of them falls down,
the other can help him up.
But if someone is alone and falls,
     it's just too bad,
because there is no one to help him.
If it is cold, two can sleep together
     and stay warm,
but how can you keep warm by yourself
Two people can resist an attack
that would defeat one person alone.
A rope made of three cords is hard to break.
