Mental Holiday

After accidentally quoting Office Space at work (a sure sign of vacation deprivation I was told) I scheduled a mental holiday for this week. It just so happened that my birthday fell in this week - a perfect day for it! The best use for a single day of PTO!

Got up early and did a good 18 mile mountain bike ride with a friend. I'd never been down to Buff Creek before. The mountain biking was excellent and the scenery was beautiful. Couldn't have asked for better weather either. A fire went through the area back in the mid-90s and as you can see it is still recovering. A very harsh beauty, but beauty nonetheless.

Ate an excellent lunch at a deli - a deli that piles all sorts of tasty things onto the bread. Then I sat in the backyard and lounged with a book until Andy got home. We gathered up some friends and headed into Old Town for some local wine, beer, frites and pizza. An all around excellent birthday, mental holiday and day in general!
