Raindrops keep falling on my head

It has rained incessantly all day.  I only had to go outside to the cabin to fill up the bird feeders which have been crowded all day.  I even saw a greenfinch today which is very rare, so I imagine that food is scarce when the weather is as bad as this.

John came for coffee, croissants and pain au chocalat this morning before he kindly gave me some advice on possible solutions for building a new shower area in the bathroom.  It is always helpful to have fresh eyes and between us we came up with an improved option which I now have to check whether it will be possible.

I took a few pictures of the woodpecker before John arrived and then again after he had left.  The woodpecker has been backwards and forwards from the ash tree to the peanut feeder and when I went outside to get a closer shot, he didn't fly away immediately.  I had hoped to get a shot of it flying but it flew before I was quite prepared.  Never mind.  I will get a good one before too long.

You can see the rain drops falling through the air and possibly notice the a covering appearing over its eye, rather like the way the white throated dipper's eye has a white patch which can sometimes be seen.  I'm not sure why it happens, but maybe it is to clean the eye while it is in flight?  Anyone know any better suggestions?

Woodpeckers has gone to Scotland for a week to visit two of her sisters and their mother.  She says that she probably won't be able to get internet access but will be blipping again as soon as possible.
