Vital Sparks

Not all grass is green

A very dull grey day at Ingbirchworth in South Yorkshire. A place we visit a couple of times each year in a desperate attempt to see some different birds.

It rained and there were millions of midges

Apparently we should have seen Yellow legged gull and Little Ringed Plover but only did half the circuit and never got a sniff of either. Nice to see a Whitethroat family feeding young and in a very reliable spot a male Yellowhammer singing his song.

It made for a change but we soon ran home over a very busy Woodhead pass - lots of people rushing home for the weekend or heading off for the summer holiday.
