Orphanage

Through the mind of a child.

Lily Mae has been watching  the film Annie. She is fascinated with orphanages. I brought her to see this one.

It is in Dun Laoghaire and  is called the Cottage Home for Little Children. It is now unoccupied. We went around the back and she was able to look in through an opening in the gate. I don't know anything about the  lives of children in these places. Its only when you see your own children or grandchildren and think that in different times children of the same age were put into places like these. that it makes you think. I wonder whether there were any people in these institutions who treated the children with decency and respect or were they all cold and uncaring.
