Hello again Santander

We returned to Santander today for the first time in several years and discovered to our delight that the city's cultural festival was in full swing.

On our first stroll into the city centre we enjoyed music from a jazz band, heard someone playing traditional regional bagpipes and watched lindy hop dancers do their thing.

Lindy hop is a version of jive. My wife and I took lessons in the latter for a couple of years and intend to do more in the area where we now live.

Watching these Spanish dancers so obviously enjoying going through their repertoire of moves made us want to go out there and join them. But it was more of a performance than a communal dance.

I loved watching the little girls in the photo trying to copy the grown-ups. But they had to be careful not to get knocked over when the dancers multiplied in number and got more adventurous with their moves!
