Colorado River

At this narrow site the Colorado River is damed and briged by human ingeniuty. The Hoover dam was built from 1931-1935
- to tame the river
- to hold back the water for supply and irrigation
- to gain electrical power
- to create Lake Mead for recreation
All this brings life into the desert.
