Can You Smell It?

We have a variety of Asian lilies in the yard, but this is one of the few that has that hypnotizingly sweet scent.

I spent a most enjoyable morning in a Hand Lettering class, alongside my teenage granddaughter. It was fun to draw letters and embellish them; there's always a new pen to be had, and different tools to play with. She and I talked a lot about inner critics, and I was surprised to find that she has so many negative voices at such a young age. How do we learn that we can't do art? How do we undo that careful learning? How to let go of expectations and simply enjoy process? Do these questions ever get answered?
