Empty sky

No I have not taken leave of my senses.....I think!
This is symbolic.
This year is the first in which there are no House Martins in what has always in the past been a thriving colony on houses nearby; and the first in which there are no Swifts either.
I have seen just one swallow locally this year, and birds that one almost took for granted like Yellowhammers and Lapwings are now, locally, rarities.
Terribly sad.
Birds that once graced summer days are absent, possibly for ever.
What are we doing to our planet? Oceans and Beaches polluted and strewn with plastic litter.
I know the answer... We are slowly destroying it.
