Neither Here Nor There

Killybegs

Killybegs is still a working port from which the fishing boats brave the waters of the North Atlantic, and the best of luck to them.

It's a small place: a couple of days before PapaDroog and I arrived, the P&O ship Oriana docked and its passengers were allowed off to explore the town, but this meant that there were more passengers than townfolk and the place was overrun.

Killybegs is also the place where PapaDroog tasted his first lobster; I ordered him the surf and turf in The Fleet Inn and would recommend it to anyone. He loved it. In fact, he polished off a fillet steak, half a lobster, two helpings of champ, one helping of potatoes dauphinoise, mixed veg, Guinness cheesecake, a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and a pint of Guinness. He was 84 years old at the time.

There is certainly a lot of this around.
