Boot

The field behind the car boot at Tilmanstone, East Kent at 7.15. A limited turn-up today due to rain imminent. Strangely productive - a stainless steel digging fork from Sheffield, a book on the Bronze Age boat found at Dover, similar on Japanese cooking with woodcut illustrations, knife with snap off blades (13 blades), 2 balls green jute, and three Sheffield cutlery knives. (£10.95 for the lot).

Ordered new keyboard, sorted and tidied. Reassured daughter in windswept drenching Scilly that they will get back. Such a shame the weather was rotten. Gusting 51mph last night, shredding tents.

Principal arriving back from Edinburgh. To say the house was shipshape would be wrong, but it is shipper and shaper than yesterday's disgorgement off stuff from the London clearout. Chicken to cook. Sunday ritual.

Rain and low cloud scudding by. Fire on all day. Toasty after last night's chill.

I love the harvest-summer colours at the moment in the big fields. Must take proper camera out.
