Polish angel
Having seen all the football trouble in Warsaw last night, today I was recalling when I lived there, between 1995 and 1996, teaching English as a foreign language. I had a fabulous time - the Poles are friendly, intelligent, and proud. I only have a few mementos from my time there, but this is one of them - an angel made out of wood bought in one of the shops in Warsaw's old town. Now I don't know if this is an example of fine traditional Polish craftsmanship or just something that is knocked up for tourists, but I really love it - it hangs in my hallway and reminds me of those happy times living in a vibrant, changing city, teaching lovely students, working with great people and learning all about life and love!
