Insect on thistle

I cannot identify the insect - not my field of expertise.  But I'm reasonably happy with the detail I captured (normally they fly away long before I get the camera near them.)

What surprised me when I looked at the photograph was the number of other tiny bugs in the flower, which I hadn't seen when I was taking the photograph.
