As I feared the fridge-freezer arrived after dark, but the driver was marvellous. Instead of dumping it on the side of the road, as other things I’ve had delivered have been, he delivered it to inside the front door with my son’s help. Then he led the unpacking, getting it through the two-man stage before leaving my son to finish. Had he not done all this we would have been in deep trouble.

As it was getting it to the kitchen and into position was a challenge that took most of the evening. After that I washed the interior and all the fittings before turning it on. The fridge part is cavernous, and the freezer part is quite a bit bigger than the old one. I’m too tired to be excited about it much.
