Explosive

Like a Lilliputian fireworks display, spiny "stars" explode around their central spark.  This was a pretty, close-up, color photograph obviously of a cactus's arm-tip, but in monochrome, it becomes almost completely abstract, inviting a closer look from a new point of view.
