Soaring Overhead

I went for a quick lunchtime walk, something I haven't done much of since my office moved. Fortunately, only some times am I not doing so because I'm too busy. More often, I'm enjoying taking a mental break from work while enjoying the diversions of the internet.

Our office location is remarkably close to the Marquette Interchange, and the high rise bridge (not officially named, as far as I can tell, but it seems that is what everyone calls it) passes right by the complex our office is in (seen in a previous blip) Today my walk led me underneath it.

It's so odd to see this road feature that I have been on so many times, from a completely different perspective. It's the interesting thing about bridges and roads and interchanges - so often concrete barriers line the sides of the roadway (understandingly, for safety) that so often the incredible views and perspective of the neighborhoods underneath and below are completely obscured. For the first time my brain was able to connect the dots between the surface street area I was now on and the elevated roadway.

Mental cartography aside, I love seeing the road snaking off to the right. Looks like something out of a science fiction piece of art, if you ask me.
