Allium sativumyumyumyumyum
For what it's worth, I find this a perfectly reasonable amount of garlic to add to a six-portion chile.
Added to three big onions, two big peppers, two cans of chopped toms, one tube tomato puree, one cupful of spices (mixed cumin, cayenne, white pepper, cocoa, coriander, oregano, paprika) and three cans of whatever pulses are in the cupboard (kidney, black-eyed, flageolet, cannellini beans) and if I'm feeling cheeky, a big dollop of hot horseradish - it makes a feast (and no meat, yippee!)
One to three teaspoons of Dave's Insanity depending on how much I wish to sweat and I'm like a pig in shit.
It has the (invaluable) propensity to keep people away. I cannot fathom why.
