Every Day Is A holiday!

Sauvie Island Osprey

Headed out to Sauvie Island today with a birding friend and were pleasantly surprised with some Osprey on Rentenaar Road.  It was the perfect day for birding...not hot, and the produce farms are a buzz on the island with lots of fruits and veggies, honey, and the usual summer bounty.  Loved seeing all the "u-cut" flowers at the farms, and the crops in the fields.  It's such a change from the fall and winter months, when I usually visit the island for birding.  Coon Point wetlands is totally dried up...we sat there for probably an hour and saw little in the way of birds except swallows.  The fields that are usually mowed were tall with a variety of grains or grasses, so the hawks and harriers were not sitting out in the fields.

For more photos from the day which included some baby grebes and a spotter sandpiper at Bethany Lake (extra photo), visit my flickr page.
