Falkirk Wheel & Visitor Centre

A trip to the Falkirk Wheel today.

The wheel is a rotating boat lift, the only one of it's type in the world. It connects the Forth and Clyde and the Union canals. The lift was opened in 2002, as part of the Central Scotland canal regeneration, and lifts boats 24 meters. The energy used to operate the lift is approximately the same as boiling eight kettles.
