Gourock Pool

Gourock's outdoor pool has re-opened after its £1.8 million makeover.

I remember learning to swim in the pool in the 60s before it was heated. In primary school we had lessons in the winter, and it was so cold it felt like we were being tortured.

The pool takes water from the Clyde through a filter before it is heated to a positively Mediterranean temperature, the facility also now houses a gym and a toddlers pool.

Gourock is one of two heated saltwater pools in Scotland, the other being at Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire.
