Lovely Hair

Eucomis bicolor, aka Pineapple Lily, flower stem emerging.  

The generic name Eucomis derives from the Greek eukomos meaning ‘lovely-haired’ and refers to the crown of leafy bracts at the top of the flowering stem.


It's an easy and surprisingly hardy South African bulb.  I've shown the flowers in previous years .... and will probably do so again :-)
