The train to Broken Hill

For the bargain of the century, Trish, Penny and I have taken the $50 special on the explorer xpt out to Broken Hill.

Bob very kindly took us into Katoomba where we picked up the train and then set off on our adventure.  The train throughout was surprisingly not full (although first class was) and we could spread out, pick whatever seat we wanted and take up two each.  If you are tempted to do this trip, do not order a hot meal.  You have been warned!

Through the dividing ranges, into the rolling hills of orange, and then further west into successively flatter country.  The area about two hours east of Broken Hill was surprisingly green and lush, with carpets of white and yellow flowers amongst the red earth.

Arrived just after 7pm Broken Hill time, out to dinner and afterwards met up with Zoe following her last evening of bridge.
