2015 Monday -- Welcome Gifts
Two of our friends, Linda and Paula, arrived today from southern California to enjoy the ocean and to visit with us and see our little beach shack. We've known both of them for a number of years and in the past ten or so years they have both become widows.
They reserved four nights in the cute little "Cayucos Motel" and we put together a "Welcome Bucket" for both of them. We included some "Cayucos Hot Sauce," some postcards, a little box of candy, a couple of bottles of bubbles to blow while sitting on the beach, some seashells, some sea glass, and some sand. We took the buckets to the motel manager and asked to have them placed in their room.
After they arrived , they phoned us and then they joined us for dinner at our place. They had stopped in Santa Barbara for lunch, so they weren't very hungry. We served a lite meal of soup, some of Stephanie's Farmers Market soups (two varieties: vegetable barley and the Tuscan white bean). They each tried a little of both flavors and said that they were delicious. If they get to attend this Thursday's Farmer's Market in Morro Bay, I think they may buy a jar or two to take home with them on Friday.
It was fun to show them our little place and to show them the sketch for the future remodel. They were as impressed with the view as we are. Everyone enjoys seeing the great expanse of ocean visible from our windows. We talked about their trip here and the various places they were slowed because of traffic. We enjoyed a wonderful evening with them.
