Compass Jellyfish

Spotted another jellyfish in the River Dart today - a good deal smaller than the Barrel Jellyfish that I blipped in Dartmouth three weeks ago. This one is the Compass Jellyfish. It's two years ago that I last saw (and blipped) one of these. On that occasion it was in the sea where I was swimming. 

The markings are slightly different (as you'll see if you click on the link to my other photo), but I'm sure they are both the same species. After all, as the compass jellyfish changes from male to female as it matures, modestly changing its appearance would be child's play!

Today the longed-for sunshine returned. Blackpool Sands beach and car park were packed as we drove past, which was good to see. And Dartmouth was very busy too - lots of kiddiwinks fishing for crabs and people wandering along the quayside watching the busy boat activity. 

And at home in the garden the butterflies are back in abundance - and other fluttery dances!

This is more like summer!
