The Saxon Window
Week 2 of my Christchurch Priory museum memory prompts.
Twyneham ("the settlement between the two rivers") as Christchurch was originally called, was one of the most important harbours in Anglo-Saxon England. Various Saxon remains have been found, including part of a Saxon font: which is believed to have been used in the Saxon minster which preceded the Priory. The middle item is a child's coffin.
I'm not sure when I'll next be in the museum. Its ancient door nearly came off its venerable hinges and will have to be repaired before it can be used again.
