The new £2 coin

What, you may well be asking, is the new £2 coin doing on Blipfoto?
 
Well, the answer is simple. It dropped into my mailbox this morning - virtual of course- because the designer, Antony Dufort, was in the same Paolozzi Masterclass as myself nearly twenty years ago.
 
I had emailed him to tell him about my book, Paolozzi Revealed, because he features in it. 
 
Today Antony is a distinguished sculptor with a highly prestigious portfolio. I remember him in class for his beautiful drawings and attention to detail. So I am not surprised that he was commissioned to design the new £2 coin. 
 
It has a very modern touch- his interpretation of Britannia is modeled on is Polish wife. He wanted a strong, contemporary woman.
