Thomas Lord - Founder of Lord's Cricket Ground

I had lunch today at The Thomas Lord pub in West Meon in Hampshire. Thomas Lord was primarily a businessman and set up the 1st "Lord's" ground in 1787 at Dorset Fields (now Dorset Square). The 2nd, short lived site was on the Eyre Estate in St John's Wood (1st match in 1809). The ground moved to its present site in 1814. Thomas Lord died in 1832 and is buried in the churchyard at St John's church in West Meon.
