A Holiday Resort for Shags

This is not a particularly good photo but I find it fascinating and want to share it.

Daughter and I were driving through Kaiteriteri when she wondered if it was birds or foliage she could see on a cliff in the distance. We stopped but it was too distant to see with the naked eye. I took a photo with as much zoom as I could, so we could see if it was recognisable when uploaded to the computer.

To our amazement it turned out to be hundreds of what appear to be shags silhouetted against the sky and when I lifted the shadows, the cliff face was also covered with them. This is just a small portion enlarged as much as I dared.

I have never seen this before.
