Crathes Castle Station

Today I had a lesson in Geocaching. One of the caches was said to be near Crathes Station. I had always thought that Crathes Station was situated within the Milton at Crathes complex. Instead I discovered the original Crathes Station is about 600 metres further east. The top photograph shows a replica of the signal box at the station, and the lower picture the platforms. Even more surprising the line must have been doubled at this station as there are two platforms.

Crathes Station was originally a private halt for the Laird of Crathes but became a public station on 1863. The station remained open until 1966 when the line closed.
