Glum day in New York?

Not a bit of it!

It had been dull all morning. The rain that was first mooted for Monday finally arrived today when we were on Ellis Island.

It was an early start to get on the subway after a quick breakfast/snack and jump- start coffee in the lower dining hall at Grand Central Station. We then braved the commuter train down to Battery Park to get the ferry across to Liberty Island.

The start was worth it with no queues at the ticket office and then straight to the head of the queue for the next available ferry. Having heard tails of waits of up to several hours it was a great start. It would have been nice to have some sun, but, I'm hoping that the overcast conditions have resulted in nice even lighting to get some mono's of the statue - will have to wait till I can get them on the laptop for a good look.

I'm on to my fourth and last memory card before resorting to the SD card in my camera. Fingers crossed!
