SURGICAL REMOVAL OF A SPLINTER

Somehow Madeline got a splinter at the beach. Despite the best efforts of the lifeguards and Mike, they could not extract the splinter! Upon arriving home, Liz and Steve used flashlights, ice, tweezers and the bugger is gone! All that remains is the hole where the splinter once was!
