St James' church
The church was central to village life in the sixties and seventies.
I had to do a project on it for school so I know that the rood screen was bought by the yard and therefore doesn't fit properly, that the huge worn stone on the threshold came from a much older building, that the ceiling bosses are saxon and that the church is built on the site of the ancient sacred grove for which the village is named.
It is exactly the same as when I was a child, apart from the new bibles.
