Maybe a rethink is in order

Okay, so like I get my way with Darryl-Elizabeth's wedding, well to be more precise, - if you really care - the teeny-weeny bit that has to do with my participation; walking her down the aisle, while smiling widely, appropriately tearing up when handing her off, you know that fatherly bit.

In all honesty, so far, this "Father of the bride" stuff is nothing like Spencer Tracy or Steve Martin or Bill Cosby (before he became THIS Bill Cosby) or even Eddie Murphy, nope, my 'father of the bride' stuff is basically just me agreeing to whatever they say and signing checks, paying for it all

That is until Darryl-Elizabeth wrote (and She approved) my "Father's speech/toast" - admittedly far more 'loving' than the one I had in mind - and (temporarily) rejecting my choice of dance, but not song: interestingly enough

Listen, I don't do "pouting Willie" very well - regardless of what She may think/say - however, disappointed 'dad' I do better than most and that's the "fine fellow" that won the day.

To which She calmly and in her perfect Public Schoolgirl demeanour asked a very elemental question, regarding the combination of the "Father/daughter" song ("Love looks so well on you"- Frank Sinatra) and dance - Argentinian Tango

"Are you sure, dear?"
