Balloons and buckets
Pinch punch, first of the month.
Tidy-up-the-garden-day. I bought a chainsaw and the front hedge was finally cut back so the postman can find his way up the garden path. I put two old ride-on toys on the pavement outside the house, up for grabs. This unofficial Peckham free-cycle is legendary for the speed and efficiency of getting rid of unwanted goods but unfortunately Tom and Sal spotted them before the local youth and, consequently, toys they haven't touched in years have been played with all afternoon. Also, old toy cars they found outside someone else's house have somehow been free-cycled home to ours. That wasn't the plan at all.
With exactly one month of summer holiday left, the children have been writing their 2015 Summer Holiday Bucket Lists. We try and tick as many things off each child's list as possible. Most of them are achievable, some (see Number 9) are not. Definitely not.
Here is Tom's 2015 list:
1. Go to Granny and Grandpa's
2. Take Harry to Granny and Grandpa's
3. Sleep out in the garden on the trampoline
4. Go-karting with the whole family
5. Have a game of golf with dad
6. Go to Brighton
7. Go on a rollercoaster on Brighton Pier
8. Zorbing!
9. Get a dog
10. Go to 'Ripley's Believe it or Not'
11 Have a water balloon fight (already ticked that one off)
12. See Auntie Baguette and Uncle Rosbif
13. Fill my room full of balloons.
Today he spent his pocket money on five packs of balloons from the newsagents and two mega-packs from Sainsburys. He then spent hours blowing them up in his room. Approx 150 balloons later;
'Muuum? You might want to get your camera ..'
He knows me so well.
