The Bridge over the Jordan . . . . .

. . . . . River, in Marlborough, New Zealand.

The Jordan River is a minor stream, which empties into the PuhiPuhi River, which in turn empties into the Hapuku River, ending up in the Pacific Ocean, on the northeast coast of the South Island. It has its origin in the Seaward Kaikoura Range, which you can see on the horizon.

I was fascinated by this little bridge! If you think it's got a curve in the middle, you're quite right. Its Heavy Weight limit is a paltry 1500kg, and speed is 10 kph - you definitely wouldn't be wanting anything to bounce its way across.

A delightful walk through the PuhiPuhi Forest Reserve led along a track between huge old trees; probably some are hundreds of years old. They're absolutely magnificent trees, and so accessible! Forget the baby seal pups at the Ohau Stream - come up the Puhi Puhi Road, just after the bridge over the Hapuku River, and you'll find the Forest Reserve. I'm putting an image of what I think is a huge old Matai tree in Extra, as well as a photo of the deck of the bridge.

I'm back in Christchurch again; the battle for the house repairs will recommence tomorrow!
