Festival Of The Moon

Tonight was the annual Festival of the Moon in San Luis de Sabinillas.

We went along about 10 o'clock and after having parked on the pavement (along with everybody else), we wandered amongst the crowds along the beach.

The moon was still full from Friday and we watched as these wonderful Chinese lanterns were lofted into the night sky. Wonderful, that is, unless the easterly breeze took them straight over the campo and set it all on fire.

The eco-friendly alternatives were the white glowing helium balloons being held by every child and a few adults.

There was an excellent Spanish soul band (who'd have thought it?) playing 70s' and 80s' music and the town was absolutely heaving.

Home by about 1 a.m. and a blissfully quiet night. Perhaps all our neighbours were still worshiping the moon.
