Our HERO!!!!!
I got home yesterday from work, and as usual, I pull in the garage and open the kitchen door to let the kids out. The three girls come running. I know Yukon wont come running because he was in the office with the door closed and the cone on his head (because of his surgery). As I open the back door to let the girls out, Yukon comes running INTO the house. I immediately text my stepson to see if he was home after school before going to work..he says no. HMM, ok. SO I go into the house, the office door is still closed. I open the basement door and go down into the basement to get jersey and let her out like usual. At that point, I start to shake. I look down at the floor and there is broken glass with dried blood and dried blood dripping down the wall under the window. I start to back up and make my way back upstairs. I call the hubby. I leave the dogs outside and opened the door to office?.and there it is?.the back window WIDE open, the blind torn to shreds. The Bilco door under the window that goes down into the basement is opened, but the interior door is locked. (and it?s a steel door). What we figured happen was they broke the basement window and after realizing they couldn?t fit, went to the back of the house and without seeing my big boy, opened that window and tried to climb in Yukon gave them a huge surprise and he then jumped out the window after them. We have no sense of when this happened but Yukon was extremely stressed all night. I suppose from the intruder and from being outside all day. His leg seems okay, but I am keeping an eye on him for lameness etc. The cops were at our house for a few hours as well as the ?CSI? detective. At first they thought that Yukon may have broke the basement window from outside, but he had absolutely no cuts on him from the broken glass and there was way too much blood on the glass for us not to notice some sort of cut on him. Besides, that doesn't explain how the window got open in the office. Yukon was also so stressed we noticed this morning that the corners of the house (siding) we chewed on as well. Our poor boy, he was a true champ yesterday. Luckily, when Yukon jumped out the window, he did not fall down into the opening from the door down the stairs.
Good boy buddy, way to protect what?s yours!
