March of Flower Power
I ventured up to Merthyr Tydfil today. Merthyr has a lot of history as the once 'Iron Capital of the World', but these days it has a misconceived reputation for being labelled, the sick capital of Wales. Thursday is not a market day for the town, but today the streets were thronging with one of those European Street Markets. I am used to French Markets and Belgium Markets, but the stalls today were flying most of the countries of Europe. Entente cordiale being taken to new heights and you cannot get many higher towns at altitude.
I am not quite sure how these Europeam markets work? I can't see these stall holders packing up in their Citroens and Opels and trundling all the way back across the Channel this evening. Such a trip cannot be financially viable. All these strong odorous products like olives, cheese and exotic sausages, traversing the countryside could possibly have an adverse effect on detente.
The owner of this pitch was not flying any flags, probably wanting to remain anonymous, such is the dire financial state of Europe these days. Looking at all these wooden characters, but Germany seems to spring to mind.
Check out the Battle of F-Stop Ridge.
