My grandparents : 1948

My Swedish grandparents, Anna and Ludvig, at their summer cottage in Budd Lake NJ.     They came to the US the first time in early 1900 - my Dad was born in Chicago in 1903 but then they went back to Sweden where his 2 brothers and 1 sister were born before coming back to Brooklyn when he was about 12.    Nanny never did speak English all that well..she wrote to my parents in old fashioned Swedish.( which none younger seems to be able to translate easily)    I thought she was very exotic and foreign and dear.  Pop Pop worked in a shipyard as a carpenter —I have some wonderful wood worked pieces of his.  He had cut-out animals like this dog all over the garden here.
