Polesden Lacey
Even though I was there early this morning, the car park at Polesden Lacey was filling up fast. By the time I left at 11.30 there were few spaces left. Very many of the visitors were groups of young mothers and children. Polesden put out deckchairs on the south facing lawn and the mums sit and chat and the children have a rare old time, racing about and rolling down the hill, shrieking at top volume.
It was quieter in the rose garden and beside the long herbacious borders. I heard that they were going to strip out one of these borders because of ground elder and bindweed, but they looked good today. The roses are blooming well in the shelter of a walled garden.
My blip is taken from a colonnade on the west front, and I have added extra pictures. I am so fortunate to have Polesden Lacey just ten minutes from home. .
