The gardens at Ascott are truly beautiful and well worth a visit, although we visited the house this time. The house is still lived in so has a cosy feel and is home to some stunning paintings, including works by Turner, Stubbs, Gainsborough and Hogarth.
This large circle of lavender is planted around a smaller circle of water and trees and was being greatly enjoyed by the bees and butterflies as well as us and smelt wonderful in the warmth of the afternoon.
Lavender
Streams of colour
In constant motion
showing shades of beauty hidden
Powered by the wind
As it caresses the river of scent
Gently, softly, lovingly
And moves through the rows
Never stopping, always moving
Following the wind
Lavender tributaries
in a Sensual scented sea of colour
Never ending.
