A street scene...

... from an earlier era, on our brief stop-over in Adelaide.

The mixture of architectural styles, the heavy late afternoon sky and the wide street seemed to cry out for a retro treatment.

Today's extra shots include the beautifully preserved Adelaide Arcade and quite the most unusual restaurant toilet block behind bars.

The restaurant is housed in a wonderful Art Deco former Adelaide bank where the bank vault complete with metal cages houses the toilets and washing facilities. The WCs appear to be original Thomas Crapper design. All this is in dramatic contrast from the bathroom, in our previous hotel in Sydney, which boasted a heated lavatory seat!
