Yes ok, we're being cruel to be kind. Yes, he Is wearing a collar, another new one but that is not the reason!!
Shadow went out to play yesterday morning and around lunchtime there was a dreadful screaming and screeching in the garden. Yes, MAGPIES, sorry Bikerbear, I know you like them. Anyway I went out to shoo them away and Shad jumped the fence and hid under the black currant bush while they flew around screeching. After they flew away, he ran in with a VERY fat tail and ran straight behind the sofa and flattened himself on the floor! I tried to tempt him out with some goats milk and food and eventually he came out and let me check him over. No injuries but no collar!! For the rest of the day, and night, he kept coming for cuddles and to have a little squawk.
He feels braver today, until the postman arrived and the letterbox clattered, so he ran upstairs!! He came back down, looked out the patio doors and a bird flew over and he ducked!!
He has definitely been bullied, and a couple of days of being a house cat won't harm him, especially as the weather forecast is not brilliant!
