Clive

Clive is Shelley's cousin and this is him celebrating his 91st birthday.  A lovely man who served in the Fleet Air Arm during the war, flying seafires.  My father used to say the spitfires were hard enough to take off and land.  What it must be like on a carrier goodness only knows.

On one day they were waiting  to take off to escort bombers over Japan in what was known to be a very hazardous mission, and they just sat there and waited.  Eventually they were stood down and were eventually told that a bomb had been dropped on Japan.  The question was "A bomb?"  Then they heard about Hiroshima.  That event probably gave Clive the 70 years of his life since then.
