Cricket, lovely cricket

Our village has a very successful cricket team that seem to come top of the local leagues most years. There is an excellent pitch for them to use, along with practice nets. The ground also has a football pitch, bowls green and a multi-use games area including a basketball court, paid for by money raised by a group of teenagers in the village a few years ago. After a walk this afternoon I headed home across the pitch and saw it was being prepared for the weekend's match. It had a certain quintessentially English look, I felt!
